Commencing 2008, the following will apply to the Junior Section: The minimum age for Junior Section will be 8 years of age. The “primary age” juniors (years 3 to 6) will meet from 6:30pm to 8pm on the 3rd Thursday of each month February-November at the Green Point Observatory. The “high school” juniors (year 7 to 12) will meet from 7pm – 8:30pm on the 3rd Friday of each month February-November at the Green Point Observatory. Parents/Guardians are to remain with and supervise all “primary age” juniors. All juniors must be either Junior Members of the Society or the children of Family members of the Society. Junior Membership of the Society costs $20 per annum (due on 1st April each year) and there is no joining fee for junior members. Children/Parents are invited to attend two (2) Junior Section meetings as visitors (without payment) to evaluate if this is suitable for their children, after which they should join the Society if they wish to remain a member. There will be night viewing on Junior Section nights if weather permits and three dark sky Junior Nights on Saturday nights at Waterfall Oval. Some of the juniors already have their own telescopes, and hopefully will be able to join the seniors at Waterfall and at the public open nights. We are always looking for seniors who are willing to help the kids on the 3rd Thursday nights, so if you have some free time, why not volunteer? We are also keen for more interested kids to join our ever growing group. If you would like more information, please select Contact Us from the main menu and send us your questions. |
