Open Nights

The Society conducts a few Public Open Nights each year. These are usually held to correspond with the 1st Quarter Moon to give visitors an opportunity to see the Moon at its best.

Admission prices are: Adults $10, Children $5, Family $20, Concession $5.

Visitors are welcome from 6 pm onwards, there will be plenty to see and do up until about 11 pm.

We will have the Selby 16" and Napier C14 telescopes running in the clubhouse, as well as several members' scopes on the field for visitors to look through. There should be good views of the Moon, maybe a planet and various nebulae and star clusters.

Hot and cold food and drinks are available at competitive prices, along with a wide range of books, posters, planispheres and other merchandise. Live lectures, activities for the kids and other presentations run continuously.

Another smaller Public Open Night is held in March to coincide with Earth Hour.

There is NO need to book - just turn up! Come and go at any time.

The Public Open Nights will not be cancelled or postponed due to weather. Wear warm clothing, as the outside temperature at this time of year is COLD!

* No refunds in the event of inclement weather. Pass-outs available.
