 alist in Astroparticle Physics and an expert in Dark Matter direct detectio
 n. She joined the University of Sydney as a lecturer in October 2022. There
 sa received her DPhil from the University of Oxford in 2019 following her w
 ork on monitoring sensors and PMT studies for the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) dark matt
 er search. She continued her research on the LZ experiment as a post-doctor
 al researcher at University College London (UCL), contributing to the commi
 ssioning and first science exploitation of the detector. At Sydney, she has
  also joined the Australian SABRE South collaboration, which will be the fi
 rst experiment of its type in the Southern Hemisphere.&nbsp;</p><p>In this 
 talk, Theresa will talk about the essential building blocks needed for a da
 rk matter detector and how to interpret the recent results from the LZ dark
