 nDr Theresa FruthDr Theresa Fruth is an experimentalist in Astroparticle Ph
 ysics and an expert in Dark Matter direct detection. She joined the Univers
 ity of Sydney as a lecturer in October 2022. Theresa received her DPhil fro
 m the University of Oxford in 2019 following her work on monitoring sensors
  and PMT studies for the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) dark matter search. She continued 
 her research on the LZ experiment as a post-doctoral researcher at Universi
 ty College London (UCL), contributing to the commissioning and first scienc
 e exploitation of the detector. At Sydney, she has also joined the Australi
 an SABRE South collaboration, which will be the first experiment of its typ
 e in the Southern Hemisphere. \nIn this talk, Theresa will talk about the e
 ssential building blocks needed for a dark matter detector and how to inter
 pret the recent results from the LZ dark matter experiment.\n \n \n
