SUMMARY:Guest Speaker - Prof Geraint Lewis - Sydney Uni
LOCATION:: Online
DESCRIPTION:
Do I expand with the Universe? Understanding modern cosmology

Mo
dern cosmology, our understanding of the universe, is a scientific success.
 But what a strange universe it is, dominated by the dark-side, the matter
and energy that shape the cosmos. In this talk, I’ll review our under
standing of the universe, from cosmic birth to eternal future, as well as e
xploring just what we mean when we say that our universe is expanding.
Short history: BSc from the University of London, PhD from Cambridge, then
 research in the USA and Canada before coming to Sydney in 2000 to take a p
osition with the Anglo-Australian Observatory. Moved to the University of S
ydney in 2002 where I am now a Professor of Astrophysics, with research foc
using upon dark matter and dark energy.

<img src="images/articles/Pr
