SUMMARY:Guest Speaker - Prof Geraint Lewis - Sydney Uni
LOCATION:: Online
DESCRIPTION:Do I expand with the Universe? Understanding modern cosmologyModern cosmolo
 gy, our understanding of the universe, is a scientific success. But what a
 strange universe it is, dominated by the dark-side, the matter and energy t
 hat shape the cosmos. In this talk, I’ll review our understanding of the un
 iverse, from cosmic birth to eternal future, as well as exploring just what
  we mean when we say that our universe is expanding.\nShort history: BSc fr
 om the University of London, PhD from Cambridge, then research in the USA a
 nd Canada before coming to Sydney in 2000 to take a position with the Anglo
 -Australian Observatory. Moved to the University of Sydney in 2002 where I
 am now a Professor of Astrophysics, with research focusing upon dark matter
  and dark energy.\nProf Geraint LewisI received a BSc from the University o
