Life Membership is the most prestigious honour SASI can bestow on members. It recognises and acknowledges- exceptional, outstanding, distinctive, and sustained contributions and service made to the society over an extended period of time.
The award exists to recognise outstanding contributions to the past but also to the future existence of the Society. Being inducted as a Life Member means becoming a role model to members. Eligibility is not solely based on how many years a person has been a member of the Society, rather, what they have contributed in that time.
The Award is only to be conferred under exceptional circumstances. It is not an award easily won.
In order to maintain prestige and significance of the Award, a maximum of one Life Membership may be awarded biennially. Life Memberships will not be awarded in a year where nominees are not considered worthy Award recipients by the Committee.
